Comprehensive answers to common questions about DarkMatter Market security, access, and operations.

01 // GETTING STARTED

This website is a verified informational directory and resource hub for DarkMatter Market. We provide PGP-signed onion links, security tutorials, and status updates. We are an independent resource designed to help users navigate the ecosystem safely, verify mirror authenticity, and avoid malicious phishing sites. We do not host the market itself.

Onion links are top-level domain addresses ending in .onion that are exclusively accessible via the Tor network. Unlike standard websites, they are hosted anonymously and cannot be accessed through regular browsers like Chrome or Firefox. They provide end-to-end encryption and hide the physical location of the server to protect user privacy.

To access DarkMatter Market, you must first download and install the Tor Browser from the official Tor Project website. Once installed, copy one of the verified V3 onion addresses from our Links page and paste it into the Tor Browser's address bar. Ensure JavaScript is disabled (set to "Safer" or "Safest" security level) for maximum privacy.

Registration is free and open. Navigate to the registration page on the market, choose a unique username (not used elsewhere) and a strong password. You will be provided with a mnemonic recovery phrase—save this offline immediately, as it is the only way to recover your account if you lose your password. You typically do not need an invite code unless the market is in restricted mode.

02 // SECURITY & PRIVACY

Always verify links using PGP (Pretty Good Privacy). The market signs its official mirrors with a private key. You should import the market's public PGP key (available on our Security page) into your GPG software (like Kleopatra or GPG4Win) and verify the signed message found on the market's landing page. If the signature is valid, the link is authentic.

While DarkMatter Market employs advanced security measures like decentralized hosting, zero-knowledge verification, and DDoS protection, safety ultimately depends on user behavior. You must practice good Operational Security (OpSec), including using Tor correctly, encrypting all sensitive data with PGP, never sharing personal information, and preferably using a secure operating system like Tails or Whonix.

Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) immediately using your PGP key. This requires you to decrypt a random message with your private key every time you log in, making your account nearly impossible to hack even if your password is stolen. Additionally, use a strong, unique password and never access your account from a public or compromised device.

PGP is mandatory for encrypting shipping addresses and sensitive communication. It ensures that only the intended recipient (the vendor) can read your message. Even if the market server is compromised or seized, PGP-encrypted messages remain unreadable to attackers, law enforcement, or market administrators. It is the cornerstone of darknet security.

03 // PAYMENTS & ESCROW

DarkMatter Market operates exclusively with Monero (XMR). This policy ensures maximum privacy for all users, as Monero uses ring signatures, confidential transactions, and stealth addresses to obfuscate transaction details completely. Bitcoin is not accepted due to its transparent blockchain which allows for transaction tracing.

The standard escrow period is 14 days (with extensions available). When you place an order, funds are held in a secure market wallet or multisig address. The vendor is only paid once you manually confirm receipt of the order or the escrow timer expires (auto-finalize). If there is an issue, you can dispute the order before the timer runs out to freeze the funds for moderation.

Each user has a unique Monero wallet address generated for each deposit. Funds typically appear after 10 confirmations on the blockchain (approx. 20-30 minutes). Withdrawals can be requested to any external XMR address and are processed with a small network fee. Always verify the receiving address carefully before confirming.

04 // ORDERS & VENDORS

Prospective vendors must pay a bond (approximately 2.00 XMR) to deter scammers. New vendors undergo a rigorous four-tier verification process involving a review of their history on other markets (Recon/Dread), technical security assessment, and PGP verification. A probationary period with limited listings applies to all new vendor accounts.

DarkMatter utilizes a hybrid AI-assisted dispute system. If an order is disputed, the AI analyzes vendor metrics, shipping times, and communication logs to suggest a resolution. A human moderator then reviews the case to make a final decision. You must provide evidence (logs, photos, etc.) to support your claim.

Strictly prohibited items include weapons, explosives, poisons, fentanyl and related analogues, child exploitation material (CSAM), human trafficking services, and murder-for-hire services. The sale of these items results in immediate permanent bans and reporting. The market focuses on digital goods, security services, and other physical products.

05 // TECHNICAL SUPPORT

Onion sites can experience downtime due to network congestion or DDoS attacks. If the primary link is down, try one of the alternative mirrors listed on our Links page. We constantly monitor mirror status and update our directory with functioning V3 onion addresses. Be patient and try again in 15-30 minutes.

Support is available via the internal ticket system on the market. Once logged in, navigate to the 'Support' or 'Help Desk' tab. Response times vary between 24-48 hours depending on ticket volume. Never share your password or mnemonic phrase with support staff; they will never ask for it.
